This is me, Jentri Worley, a soon to be Certified Mental Performance Consultant.

As a former collegiate athlete who endured many injuries, performance issues, mental performance struggles, it soon struck my interest to obtain the education and experience to be a practicing CMPC to help athletes get through obstacles in their athletic career as well.

In high school, I accumulated countless awards both individually and as a team. All while coming at a cost, I was angry, I felt like sports were the only way I could “make it out” of where I am from, I blocked out so many memories due to suppressing emotions and just believing it was a part of being an athlete. Experiencing my first major injury my junior year of high school, allowed me think about what my life would be like without sports, which one day it will happen inevitably. Instead of dealing with those feelings and concerns, I suppressed them, diving harder into my recovery, having the mindset of “this will never end, it can’t.” At the end of my high school career, I was able to get the opportunity to play collegiate basketball at the division 1 level.

During my freshmen year of college I was faced with another injury, yet, this injury being season ending. I was on crutches for 6 months; it was the lowest time of my life. I truly felt like my athletic career was over, I had no idea what was going to be next because all I ever did was play basketball. I again tried to suppress my feelings, my isolation, my lack of interest in everything until the spring semester rolled around. During this time is where I discovered Sport Psychology. I took a general education psychology class and was very interested; after talking to my professor, she informed me I can get my education in Sports Psychology focusing on athletes and mental performance. I dove into the field just reading literature reviews and articles based on self-efficacy theory, stress injury model, transition model and many more, which in turn made me want to be an advocate for athletes struggling with similar situations.

After graduation, I applied to graduate school at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and obtained my Masters degree in the field of Exercise and Sports Psychology. As I am now working on completing my CMPC, Certified Mental Performance Consultant, I am here to work with you, high level athletes and performers, on their mental performance! During my educational experience it has reminded me so much of what I went through as a young athlete. Now I am proud to say, I am here to help you get through any situation athletics or life might throw at you!
